A woman told police she was threatened by two men while using a pay phone on the south side of McKale Center, 1721 E. Enke Drive, Thursday night.

The woman called police from the phone at 10:14 p.m. after two men reportedly approached her and one of the men began yelling. The man, who was black, told the woman "the 'man' was keeping him down," police reports stated.

The man continued to yell and said he could kick the woman's ass. She then called police.

Police reported they did not see the men in the area after responding to the call.


Police arrested a man on DUI charges early Saturday morning after neighbors of Kappa Alpha fraternity complained of a disturbance at the house and police discovered a minor collision had taken place outside.

John W. Snyder, 22, of the 400 block of West Thurber Road, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and DUI with a blood-alcohol content of .10 or above.

When police arrived at 1:29 a.m., several males were standing in the roadway in front of the fraternity house at 906 N. First Ave. A red Mazda pickup, which Snyder was reportedly driving, was between a Nissan Pathfinder and a BMW parked at the side of the road. The rear bumper of the pickup was touching the front of the Pathfinder, police reports stated.

Officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Snyder's breath and asked him to perform field sobriety tests. After the tests, he was placed under arrest for DUI.

Snyder was transported to University of Arizona Police Department headquarters, where two Intoxilyzer tests indicated BACs of .197 and .201. Snyder was then arrested on a charge of DUI with a BAC of .10 or above and taken to Pima County Jail.


A UA student was arrested early Saturday morning on DUI charges after officers saw her make an illegal left turn.

Julie A. Halladay, 18, a resident of Coronado Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., was stopped at 12:31 a.m. after an officer saw her enter the center lane of East Sixth Street and turn left onto North Park Avenue. Turning left onto northbound Park Avenue is prohibite d by signs at that intersection.

Halladay told the officer she did not see the sign. Reports indicate there was a moderate odor of alcohol on Halladay's breath and she said she "had a couple of beers."

After performing field sobriety tests, Halladay was arrested for driving under the influence and minor operating a vehicle with liquor in the body.

She was taken to University of Arizona Police Department headquarters, where Intoxilyzer tests were administered, indicating blood-alcohol contents of .107 and .101. Halladay was then arrested for DUI with a BAC of .10 or above. She was cited and released to a third party.


University police reports indicated several cases of theft on campus since Thursday.

Police reports indicated 20 members of the Society of Phys Students have access to the room.


A UA student was arrested on a charge of shoplifting Friday at the Associated Students Computing and Technology Store.

Soren F. Ragsdale, a resident of Yuma Hall, 1107 E. North Campus Drive, was arrested at 4:59 p.m. after an employee reported seeing Ragsdale trying to leave the store without paying for a package of three Zip formatted disks.

Ragsdale was cited and released at the scene.
