  • Students can share their opinions on what qualities the next president of the UA should possess.

    The three students sitting on the search committee to replace President Pacheco, are conducting a student survey today on the Mall from noon-1 p.m.

    They hope to gather students' opinions to guide their decision in the search.

    Students who return a survey will receive a free slice of pizza.

  • The library offers a free workshop, "Internet: Beyond the Basics," in the Science and Engineering Library Room 311 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

    The workshop covers features of Netscape Navigator software, including advanced searching techniques, file transfer protocol and bookmarks. The workshop is designed for those who have attended the "Introduction to the Internet" workshop.

  • Career Services is offering a free workshop on r‚sum‚ writing from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Students are required to check in at the Career Services reception desk in the lower level of Old Main.

  • Steward Observatory Public Evenings presents John Cocke to speak on "Does Einstein's Gravitational Theory Really Work?" in the Steward Observatory Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

    After the hour-long lecture there will be a question and answer period. If the weather permits, those in attendance are invited to view the night sky though the telescope at Steward Observatory's campus station, aided by members of the UA Astronomy Club.

  • Jean-Francois Seznec, Professor of international and public affairs at Columbia University and president of The Lafayett Group, to speak on "Trade and Investment in the Middle East" in the Franklin Building Room 204 from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

  • The Memorial Student Union's Gallagher Theatre is showing "Ransom" at 7:30 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. Admission is $2.50.

Fact of the Day

Teachers who are "baby boomers", born 1946-1964, say students today are less idealistic, persistent, patriotic and happier than when they were in school.
