Police Beat

A New York man was arrested Tuesday on a charge of threatening/intimidating at the Administration building, 1401 E. University Blvd.

An employee told university police that the man, Garrett C. Pace, 23, of New Rochelle, NY, had called Monday at 3:30 p.m. to request his transcripts.

The employee told police she told the man that necessary documents were missing from his transcript request and that she would have to find them. When Pace called back at 4:30 p.m., the employee told him she would try to send his transcripts by Tuesday, police reports stated.

The employee told police Pace became irate and said if he did not get the transcripts he would fly to Arizona from New York and kill everyone in her office.

The employee told police she was frightened when she saw Pace outside her office Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

Police reports stated that Pace confirmed the employee's story.

Pace was arrested and booked into Pima County Jail. He also was warned for criminal trespassing if he returns to the Administration building in the future.

A male student was cited Wednesday on eight charges after he was stopped for running a stop sign at East Fifth Street and North Euclid Avenue.

According to university police reports, police were traveling south bound on North Euclid Avenue when they saw a Jeep Cherokee that failed to stop at a stop sign and turn north onto Euclid Avenue.

Police stopped the Jeep. When the driver, Scott J. Kindzierski, 20, of the 3000 block of East Fourth Street, was looking through his wallet to get his New Jersey driver's license, police saw an Arizona identification card. Reports stated the name on the driver's license and ID was "Joseph M. Almeida."

The names on the driver's license and ID were different then the one on the vehicle's registration, according to police reports. Reports also stated the driver could not find proof of vehicle insurance.

Kindzierski told police the Jeep belonged to a friend named "Scott."

According to reports, police wrote Kindzierski a warning for failing to stop at a stop sign, and as he signed it, police noticed Kindzierski scribbling out what he wrote and signing a different name.

Police inspected the signatures on the warning and found he wrote "Scott."

Kindzierski told police he did not write "Scott."

Police also noticed that the eye color on the driver's license was different from Kindzierski's eye color, according to police reports.

After police asked to search his wallet and call his friend "Scott," Kindzierski admitted that he was "Scott," police reports stated.

A records check of Kindzierski showed there was a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in court on a theft charge, police reports stated.

After Kindzierski showed police two wallets, one with his identification and another with Almeida's, police arrested him on charges of providing false information to law enforcement and failing to produce evidence of identity.

According to police reports, one of the wallets contained a Visa card with a woman's name.

Police searched the Jeep and found seven cans of unopened beer and a green and silver pipe with the smell of "burnt marijuana," according to police reports.

Police cited Kindzierski on charges of minor in possession of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kindzierski told police Almeida gave him his wallet and contents about two years ago so he could get a false ID. Kindzierski also told police he used the New Jersey driver's license to obtain the Arizona ID card.

Kindzierski told police he gave them Almeida's driver's license because he had alcohol in the Jeep.

When questioned about having the woman's Visa card, Kindzierski told police he found it the day before while cleaning his house.

Kindzierski was cited on two charges of theft by control for the New Jersey driver's license and Visa card. He was also cited on charges of failing to stop for a stop sign and for having no proof of insurance.

Kindzierski was taken to Pima County Jail where police served him the warrant. He was also taken to Pretrial Services and released.
