Parking and Transporation more interested in profits than service

Editor:

Numerous articles have appeared about how seemingly arbitrary and money-hungry the Parking and Transportation Department is. The following is another example:

In January, my dog chewed on my academic year bus pass (yes, it's the truth, and I still have 97 percent of it). Unfortunately, the side that was chewed on was the side with the magnetic strip on it.

After this occurred, I called Parking and Transportation to inquire about replacing the pass and explained what had occurred. I was then told that it would cost me $25. to replace the pass (even though it hadn't been lost/stolen).

Not wanting to repurchase my pass, I contacted Sun Tran. After relaying what had occurred and the response I had been given, I was told that I could go to Sun Tran's office and that they would replace the pass for free.

Promoting alternative modes of transportation should be encouraged, not penalized. This is another attempt to get fee income from students and employees.
