A female student reported her car stereo and speakers missing Sunday from her car parked in Lot 5068 behind Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 940 E. Fifth St.

The student told university police she loaned her 1987 Honda Accord to her ex-boyfriend Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and said he was planning to return it about 6:30 p.m.

At 4:30 p.m. Sunday, the ex-boyfriend called the student and told her that the car was parked in Lot 5068 and the key was on the seat, police reports stated.

The student told police she went to the car and found it was missing a Erbine car stereo with a compact disc player with detachable face, 4-inch round speakers and 10-inch oval speakers.

The student told police she found her parking permit in the glove compartment with a note from her ex-boyfriend on it. She told police she found another note on a seat.

The student told police her ex-boyfriend had owed her $250, but had given her the stereo and speakers instead of the money. She told police she never saw a receipt and does not possess any paperwork for the stereo system.

The student told police her and her ex-boyfriend had just broken up and that she is a "little afraid" because she does not know what he may do.

Attempts by police to contact the ex-boyfriend were unsuccessful.

The stereo was valued at $250. The values of the speakers were unknown.


A male student reported $1,300 in cash stolen from his room at Apache-Santa Cruz Residence Hall, 1420 E. Fifth St.

The student told university police he last saw the money Friday at 9 p.m. When the student checked were the money was kept Saturday at 10:15 p.m., the money was gone.

The student told police the money was kept in the plastic cap of a laundry detergent bottle in his closet. The student said his roommate was the only other person who knew where the money was kept or had access to the room, police reports stated.

The student also told police he had lost his room key for about four days, but when he woke up Saturday morning, the key was on his dresser.


A man reported Sunday that two speakers were stolen from his daughter's 1990 Jeep Wrangler in the Park Avenue Garage, 1140 E. Park Ave.

The man told university police his daughter parked the Jeep in the west side of the first level of the garage Thursday and left town. When she returned to the Jeep Sunday, the speakers were gone.

The man told police the Jeep's soft-top was pulled away from the body above the rear tires. He said the speakers were pulled off their bases, and screws were left in the Jeep, police reports stated.


A man reported his bicycle, bicycle seat and cable lock stolen from outside the Psychology building, 1503 E. University Blvd.

The man told university police he used a Kryptonite cable to lock his Cannondale mountain bike and Gel bike seat to a bike post on the west side of the building at 11:30 a.m. When he returned at 12:10 p.m., the bike, seat and lock were gone.

The bike was valued at $390, the seat at $20 and the lock at $20.


A female student reported two suspicious identification cards Saturday at Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St.

The student told university police she was working at the hall's front desk and looking through the box where IDs are kept when she saw the suspicious cards.

The student told police she found two cards which appeared to have the same individual's name, but different birthdates. Both cards also had the pictures of the same man on them, police reports stated.

The student told police it was also unusual to have ID cards in the box that were not UA student ID cards.

Attempts by police to contact the owner of the cards were unsuccessful. Police advised the man through a telephone message to call police and explained the presence of the suspicious identification.

The case was forwarded to detectives.
