Police Beat

Two male students were arrested on multiple charges Tuesday after a male UA employee reported that they were inside a fenced construction site west of Herring Hall, 1130 E. South Campus Drive.

The employee told university police that one of the students climbed onto a tractor and honked the horn while the other student climbed into a "uniloader," removed a fire extinguisher and activated it into the air.

The employee told police the two students saw him and ran north.

Police found two students fitting the descriptions the employee gave near Bear Down Gym, 1428 E. University Blvd., and stopped them about 4:15 a.m.

One of the students, Austen Murphy, 20, a resident of Kaibab-Huachua Residence Hall, 922 E. Fourth St., told police he and the other student, Alec A. Kosky, 21, also a resident of Kaibab-Huachuca, were coming from the hall and walking around because they could not sleep.

Both students told police they had not messed around with the fire extinguisher.

Police found shoe prints at the construction site, and after checking both students' shoe soles, police found the prints matched the students' shoe soles, reports stated.

Police also smelled the "strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from their mouths as they spoke," reports stated.

Kosky told police he drank about a six-pack of beer.

Murphy told police he drank two beers in the same room as Kosky.

Kosky told police he knew that Murphy was a minor.

Kosky was cited on charges of giving alcohol to a minor, false information to a law enforcement officer and second-degree criminal trespassing.

Murphy was cited on charges of minor in consumption of alcohol, second-degree criminal trespassing and false information to a law enforcement officer.

Both students were released at the scene after signing a promise to appear in court.

Two 13-year-old boys were cited on criminal damage charges Tuesday at Arizona Stadium, 540 N. Vine Ave.

A male UA employee told university police he was entering a restroom west of the Scoreboard Cafe about 5 p.m. and saw one of the boys walking out.

He said the boy called back to another boy in the restroom.

The employee told police he saw the second boy with a marker in his hand that was pressed against a stall's wall. The employee said he took the marker out of the boy's hand and escorted the two boys to the cafe.

Police reports stated the boys were students of Mansfeld Elementary School and admitted to "tagging" the restroom's wall.

The second boy showed police where both of the boys tagged, police reports stated.

The boys were cited and released to their fathers.

Police reports stated the fathers were warned that the boys were not allowed on university property unless they have a legitimate reason.

A female student reported items stolen Tuesday from her vehicle parked in the Second Street Parking Garage, 1340 E. Second St.

The student told university police she parked her 1996 Ford Explorer Monday at 8:30 p.m. When she returned Tuesday at 6 a.m., she found the passenger side window broken and a Sony AM/FM compact disc player stereo, Case Logic CD case with 20 CDs in it, a $100 bill and a pack of miscellaneous personal papers stolen.

The stereo was valued at $300, the CDs at $200. The values of the papers and the CD case were unknown.

A male student reported a 5-gallon Crystal Water container stolen Tuesday from in front of his room at Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St.
