  • The Native American Resource Center announces a limited number of 1997 summer session scholarships for currently enrolled UA Native American undergraduate students. Interested students must apply by May 13.

  • The Library offers a free workshop, "Internet: Beyond the Basics," in the Science and Engineering Library Room 311 from 10 a.m. until noon.

    The workshop covers the features of Netscape Navigator software, including advanced searching techniques, file transfer protocol and bookmarks. The workshop is designed for those who have attended the "Introduction to the Internet" workshop.

  • The Library offers a free workshop on how to use QuickSearch in the Science and Engineering Library Room 311 from 4 until 5:30 p.m.

    QuickSearch is a do-it-yourself computer retrieval system accessing millions of references in more than 400 subject databases. The purpose of the service is to allow UA students and faculty the opportunity to do their own computer literature search for free.

  • The Arizona Prevention Center Seminar presents Joaquin Salcedo to speak on "Epidemiologic Profiling as a Method in Studies," in the Arizona Health Sciences Center Room 5403 from noon until 1 p.m.

  • Speech and Hearing Sciences and the Center for Neurogenic Communication Disorder present Eva VanLeer, of the Speech & Hearing Sciences department, to speak on "The Effect of Elicitation Procedure on Discourse Coherence and Cohesion in Brain Injured Adolescents," in the Speech an Hearing Sciences building Room 409 at 12:15 p.m.

  • The Faculty Community Lecture Series presents John Olsen, of the Department of Anthropology, to speak on "Mongolia Before the Mongols: The Search for Human Ancestors in the Gobi Desert," in the Arizona Health Sciences Center's DuVal Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

    Olsen will discuss the multi-national investigation of Mongolia's earliest archaeological record initiated in 1995 under a unique five-year agreement between The University of Arizona and the Academies of Science of Russia and Mongolia.

  • The Memorial Student Union's Gallagher Theatre is showing "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America" at 7:30 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. Admissions is $2.50.
