Michelle Fanger (2) and Keisha Johnson (15) will need to play well if UA hopes to win this weekend.

This is the weekend the Arizona volleyball team has been waiting for.

When the Wildcats goes on the road to play No. 13 Washington State tonight, outside hitter Barb Bell should set the all-time UA career kills record. Bell needs only nine kills to surpass Terry Launcher's mark of 1,637.

To win against the Washington schools, the Wildcats (12-5 overall, 3-4 in the Pacific 10 Conference) will likely need more than nine kills from Bell. They will need an all-around team effort, the kind which they have been showing only occasionally.

The Cougars (13-4, 4-3) split their two matches last week against Southern Cal and UCLA. Arizona plays No. 14 Washington (15-3, 5-2) tomorrow night.

"Life in the Pac-10 is not easy," UA head coach Dave Rubio said. "This is one of the most competitive and difficult road trips of the year. Our goal is to compete and play hard.

"Sarah Silvernail from Washington State and Angela Bransom for Washington are two proven players with senior leadership and great physical ability."

Arizona is likely going to need another strong week from its middle blockers, Erin Aldrich and Keisha Johnson, if it hopes to beat either team. Aldrich has led the team in kills for two straight matches and continues to provide good blocking.
