Libertarians have 'enjoyed crummy coverage' - want an improvement of reporting quality

Editor:

I guess it was too much work for the Wildcat to take any notice of the four way debate in the Center for Creative Photography sponsored by the composition, communication and political science departments. Without reading the Nov. 6 Wildcat, you'd never kn ow how important it supposedly is to the Wildcat to have an informed group of registered student voters is.

If you could find a way to allocate resources so that the paper cover something other than the latest game show and the squabbling bureaucrats at the UA, maybe you could make some contribution to extent to which the average college student is informed abo ut the issues that affect their lives. The Libertarian Students have hosted and participated in several events throughout this and last semester and have enjoyed crummy coverage from the Wildcat. We have experienced everything from the having wrong inform ation printed to weak reporting to being ignored.

I do not ask for a bias in our favor; only an improvement in quality. If other clubs offer informative events, especially with the crucial timing that the Libertarian Students did, by all means, cover them! Our club offered numerous opportunities for stud ents to increase their awareness. Our guest speakers, debates, fund-raisers, candlelight vigil, and forums actually drew decent crowds, but no thanks to the Wildcat.

We do not believe that now the election is over, students should sink back into the couch of apathy and ill-information. That is why we are offering two more opportunities before finals for students to hear educated presentations of issues and viewpoints that dumbfound mainstream media. On Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 5:30 p.m., Dr. Ross Levatter will deliver the following talk: Why Government Health Care Can Be Dangerous To Your Health. It will be held in Modern Languages room 310. Then, on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 5 :30 p.m. in the Student Union Tucson Room, Vin Suprynowicz, a syndicated columnist from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, which reaches over a million readers, will speak on: Jury Stacking, the Second Amendment, and the Future of Freedom. Come one, come all, and bring your thinking caps!
