Vulcans avoid sweep, top UA

The Arizona baseball team was unable to complete the sweep in its season opening series against the Hawaii-Hilo Vulcans, due in great part to the five errors that led to seven unearned runs by the Vulcans.

Arizona dropped the last game of the series, 10-4 to the Vulcans (5-9) on Sunday afternoon in Hilo, finishing the debut series of head coach Jerry Stitt with a record of 3-1.

"You got to give them credit," UA coach Victor Solis said. "They came to play on Sunday."
