Crank named player of week

Arizona sophomore guard Monika Crank was named the Pacific-10 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the week, commissioner Thomas Hansen announced yesterday.

Crank, a 5-foot-7 native of Page, averaged 14 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals per contest against the Washington schools over the weekend.

The Wildcats swept the Huskies, 80-57 and Cougars, 76-46 at McKale center. Against Washington, Crank scored a career-high 17 points (5 of 7 from three-point line) and had a game-high five assists.

Versus Washington State she scored 11 points and added four assists. For the week, she was 8 of 12 from three-point range.

Crank has scored in double digits in six of last eight games. She has doubled her career totals in every statistical category this season and is the only Wildcat averaging 30 minutes a game.
