 - The Governor's office sent this fax out on Thursday, officially declaring this weekend as "Back the Cats Weekend."



 - "Whereas, the University of Arizona Wildcats Men's Basketball Team is headed to Indianapolis this weekend for its third trip to the NCAA final four in the last ten years; and
 - "Whereas, Coach Lute Olsen has guided the University of Arizona Team to the NCAA Playoffs for thirteen of his fourteen years as coach of the Wildcats; and
 - "Whereas, the Wildcat's streak of 13 straight NCAA basketball tournaments is now the second-longest in the NC AA and the fourth-longest in NCAA history; and
 - "Whereas, the University of Arizona Wildcats beat the number one ranked University of Kansas Jayhawks last weekend on the Wildcats' way to the Final Four; and
 - "Whereas, the University of Arizona Wildcats starting five are all only Freshman, Sophomores, or Juniors; and
 - 
"Whereas, the University of Arizona Wildcats have led the PAC-10 Conference in home attendance for thirteen consecutive years; and
 - 
"Whereas, the entire state of Arizona will be watching and rooting for the University of Arizona Wildcats as they play in the NCAA Final Four Men's Basketball Tournament this weekend;
 - "NOW, THEREFORE, I, Fife Symington, Governor of the State of Arizona, do hereby proclaim this weekend as "Back the Cats Weekend" and urge all Arizonans to support the University of Arizona Wildcats as they represent our State in the 1997 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four playoffs.
