Need an excuse not to stay home and study?

Well, tonight is College Night at the UA women's basketball game against Southern Cal.

UA students will be admitted to the 7 p.m. game at McKale Center for free with a student ID card. Wildcat Crunch ice cream will be served to the first 1,000 fans and there is a $2.50 meal deal for UA students (hot dog, chips, soda and candy).

There will be free throw contests during timeouts in addition to an obstacle course race for students at halftime. Prizes include gift certificates from Keaton's Arizona Grill, The Great Impasta, Two Pesos Mexican Restaurant and Rocks & Ropes (climbing lessons).

Briefly

Lute Olson may have a television show but women's basketball head coach Joan Bonvicini's voice can be heard via radio waves.

The Joan Bonvicini Coach's Show, broadcast live during the season from San Fran Grill on Tanque Verde Road, airs every Monday night from 7-8 on KFFN (1490 AM).

Arizona Athletics joined with Circle K to honor Tucson's outstanding teachers last week.

The Circle K Faculty Awards Program pays tribute to high school instructors from throughout southern Arizona who have demonstrated exceptional teaching skills in the classroom.

Each of the nine teachers nominated by their respective schools' principals received a ring from Arizona Athletics and all were featured on a special poster that was displayed in Circle Ks throughout the city.

The winner, David Ashcraft, was announced at a ceremony held in Arizona's Stadium Club.

Ashcraft is a Sahuaro High School vocal music teacher, who was chosen by a selection committee made up of various school districts, UA, and Circle K representatives.

Sahuaro High School received $1000 on behalf of Ashcraft and his accomplishments.

By the Numbers

0:

The number of Pacific 10 Conference teams that have gone undefeated in league play. Oregon State was 17-0 in the Pac-10 and 26-0 overall in 1981 heading into its last regular season game against Arizona State. The Beavers lost, but Arizona, with a sweep of the Los Angeles schools this weekend, could become the first in league history to accomplish the feat.
