University police arrested a Tucson man on multiple counts early Saturday after sorority members saw him throwing lawn furniture from the patio of the Delta Gamma sorority house, 1448 E. First St.

Police responding to a 911 call of a gunshot and a disturbance in the area of First Street and North Vine Avenue at 1:05 a.m. discovered a man, later identified as Ty H. Antonides, 20, of Grand Junction, staggering toward their vehicle, police reports stated.

Antonides put his arms up when he saw the cruiser, and told police with slurred speech that he didn't want to be associated with the "problem" and had nothing to do with it, reports stated.

When asked who fired the gunshot, Antonides told police, "I don't know," and answered officers' questions by shouting, "Sir, yes sir," reports stated.

According to reports, police could not interview Antonides further because he was too drunk to understand, reports stated.

Delta Gamma members told police they saw Antonides on their patio roof launching yard furniture from the roof and that there was another man in the yard, reports stated.

Police arrested Antonides on allegations of minor consuming alcohol, criminal damage to property and criminal trespassing, then took him to university police headquarters.

While at the police station, Antonides reportedly became belligerent with officers, calling them, "'Barny Fife,' 'Andy Griffen,' 'stupid cops,' 'four eyes' and 'assholes,'" reports stated.

Antonides was taken to the Pima County Jail.

University police arrested a man Sunday morning after UA employees saw him "hanging out" near the old swimming pool at the Memorial Student Union, 1303 E. University Blvd.

Police arrived at 6:54 a.m. and discovered Keith R. Battaile, 18, of the 400 block of East Yvon Drive, in the Student Union's pool area, which is surrounded by a 15-foot wall, police reports stated.

Battaile told police he had been working for "Connie" and "Christy" in the Student Union kitchen since 4:30 p.m., and entered the pool area through a "hole in the wall" five minutes before police arrived, reports stated.

A Student Union kitchen manager later told police nobody named Connie or Christy worked for him.

Battaile then told police he rode his skateboard to the Student Union because he wanted to "check out" the pool, reports stated. But when officers asked Battaile where the skateboard was, he told them it was at home, reports stated.

According to reports, the officer suspected Battaile was under the influence of a mind-altering drug and asked him where he lived. Battaile told the officer he could not remember his address or telephone number, reports stated.

During the conversation, Battaile interrupted the officer, saying, "Yeah, I wanna ride it," and that he "rode in from Little Rock and wanted a bite of pizza," reports stated.

Battaile was arrested on counts of criminal trespassing and false reporting to law enforcement, then taken to Pima County Jail, where jail officials added a count of minor in possession of alcohol.

Battaile was released by Pre-Trial Services.

Three students were arrested Sunday evening after they allegedly broke into and cleaned out a vending machine at Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall, 610 N. Highland Ave.

Police received information from an unidentified source that three people broke a vending machine in a first-floor lounge and took all of its snacks, police reports stated.

Police talked to one of the suspected candy thieves, identified as Kirk A. Olson, 19, about 11 p.m. near his room at Graham-Greenlee.

Olson told police he was walking past the vending machine with Kimberly S. Randle, 18, and Ryan Turner, 20, both Graham-Greenlee residents, about 3 a.m. that morning.

Olson told police he was "just goofing around" when he punched the plastic window in the front of the machine, reports stated.

The glass didn't break, Olson told police, adding that Turner then decided to give it a try, reports stated.

Olson said Turner then kicked through the glass, and they both made several trips to their rooms loaded with Tootsie Rolls, Animal Crackers, Doritos and other munchies, reports stated.

Olson told police Randle only took a bag of chips that they had given her.

Police later found Randle and Turner in their rooms, arrested the three on counts of theft and released them.

Turner later told police he kicked the machine and a count of criminal damage to property was added, reports stated.

Police Beat is compiled from official University of Arizona Police Department reports.
