Likins to address CatCard concerns at forum

UA President Peter Likins will host an open forum today at noon in the Memorial Student Union Tucson Room to discuss student, faculty and staff concerns regarding the universityÍs new CatCards.

At a Faculty Senate meeting Monday, Likins took full responsibility for the release of student, faculty and staff Social Security numbers to MCI Telecommunications Corp. and Saguaro Credit Union. The numbers were released in the University of ArizonaÍs effort to streamline the implementation of services connected to its new identification cards.

Likins is concerned about privacy issues that have been raised and hopes to address those and any other issues or concerns students, faculty, or staff may have, said Sharon Kha, assistant to the president.

Anyone interested in speaking at the meeting will be able to sign up at a table just outside the door of the Tucson Room, Kha said in an e-mail message. Each person will have three minutes to speak so that as many people as possible can be heard, she said.
