University police arrested a 22-year-old male student Thursday after he allegedly caused a traffic accident.

Matthew Reynolds, of the 2400 block of North Rio Cancion, was arrested on drunken driving charges Thursday just before 1 a.m. Reynolds allegedly rear-ended another vehicle near the 1400 block of East First Street.

According to reports, officers smelled alcohol on Reynolds' breath and asked him if he had been drinking.

"What do you mean by that ?" Reynolds reportedly responded.

Reynolds told officers he thought he had been in an accident and then stated he had not been drinking at all, according to reports.

Officers reportedly asked Reynolds to submit to field sobriety tests but he refused.

"I'm not going to take any tests for you, I'm going to refuse everything." he told officers, according to reports.

Officers arrested Reynolds for driving under the influence of alcohol and took him to police headquarters where they obtained a warrant to take a blood sample.

While at headquarters, Reynolds could not walk on his own and was physically guided through hallways, reports stated.

He was reportedly taken to Kino Community Hospital, 2800 E. Ajo Way, where he was restrained while a blood sample was taken to determine his blood alcohol concentration.

Reynolds was taken to Pima County Pre-Trial Services and released.


A female student called university police Thursday after she was harassed by a man in a car.

The student told officers the man was driving on East Mabel Street about 9:30 a.m. when he stopped and began to talk to her, police reports stated.

The student told police the man, driving a late-model gold Ford Taurus, followed her all the way to her car, at East Mabel and North Highland Avenue, according to reports.

"Does your pussy taste as good as it looks?" the man reportedly asked the student.

The student told police she replied, "Excuse me?" The man repeated his question and the student said, "I don't know," reports stated.

The man continued his conversation with the girl by asking, "Will you sit on my face?" police reports stated. The student responded by saying "No, thank you."

The man followed her until she got in her car and drove away.


University police arrested a 19-year-old student Thursday on liquor charges.

Officers reportedly saw Melissa Martin, a La Paz Residence Hall resident, being helped across a street by a female student near North Highland Avenue and East First Street just before midnight.

Officers stopped and asked to speak to the women, but Martin did not stop until the officers asked a second time, according to reports.

According to reports, Martin told officers she was OK and added, "I've just had too much to drink."

She told officers she had two beers that night, reports stated.

Martin was cited and released.


University police arrested two 19-year-old men Wednesday on liquor charges.

William Bowden, of the 1300 block of North Park Avenue, and Joshua Hohlhase, of Scottsdale, were seen by officers walking on East First Street just after 10 p.m. The two were reportedly carrying cans of Keystone Light beer.

When officers approached, the two tried to hide the beer, according to reports.

They were both cited for minor possessing spirituous liquor and released at the scene.


A 21-year-old student was arrested by university police Thursday after being seen skateboarding on campus.

Officers arrested Craig Liu, of the 2100 block of North Avenida El Capitan, on charges of interference with the peaceful conduct of an educational facility after he was spotted skateboarding near the Education building, 1430 E. Second St.

According to reports, police saw Liu and four other men skateboarding near the building and stopped to warn them. While talking with Liu they found he had been warned about skateboarding on campus in 1996.

Liu told officers he was ignoring the warning because skateboarding was all he did besides school, police reports stated.

He was cited and released at the scene. The other four men were warned.
