Coronado residents should be honest on claims

To the Editor:

The article on the Coronado Residence Hall flooding ("Coronado residents will be reimbursed," Feb. 4) correctly states that I advise residents to be completely honest about their losses. Submission of a "Notice of Claim Against the State of Arizona" form is a legal statement in support of a loss. Making false statements on a claim is insurance fraud, a felony offense. Further, if any part of a claim is fraudulent, the entire claim is considered fraudulent. Fraud is an acceptable legal ground for complete denial of an insurance claim. Insurance adjusters should pay fair market value for the loss incurred and will deny fraudulent claims. My best advice is to state the facts as they exist.
