Two students were injured Monday after falling from the same bicycle near the Chemistry building, 1306 E. University Blvd.

Raul Vivas, 21, was riding a bike west on University Boulevard at 11:39 p.m. when his feet tangled with passenger Jennifer Jannusch, 19, causing them both to crash into the pavement, police reports stated.

Tucson Fire Department medics treated Vivas for minor abrasions at the scene and took Jannusch to University Medical Center to treat abrasions on her jaw.

Police warned Vivas for riding with two people on the bicycle, reports stated.


Someone removed a student's $100 cellular phone from her backpack Monday as she took a test at McClelland Hall, 1130 E. Helen St.

The student told university police her instructor had the 250 students in the class place their book bags on the floor at the front of the room before taking the 12:30 p.m. test.

When she finished her test at 1:45 p.m., she noticed an open zipper on the front part of her backpack, and her phone was missing, police reports stated.

The student told police she wasn't able to see her backpack from where she was sitting.


A student's backpack was stolen Monday while he checked his e-mail in the main lobby of the Science-Engineering Library, 744 N. Highland Ave.

The student told university police he left his backpack on a table about 3:10 p.m. while he used one of the library's computers to check his messages. When he finished about 10 minutes later, his $40 backpack was missing, which contained his $90 calculator, a cellular phone of unknown value and a UA library book, police reports stated.

The student told police that attempts to locate his backpack in restrooms were unsuccessful.


A student reported that her backpack was swiped in a three-minute period while she used a restroom in the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.

According to police reports, she had been studying at a third-floor table at 2:45 p.m. and returned after a trip to the bathroom to find her $25 backpack missing, along with $30 in cash and various textbooks.

Police had no further information.


A UA Facilities Management grounds employee Monday reported a cement garbage can holder was damaged beyond repair.

The employee told university police she noticed the container intact Friday at 3:30 p.m.

At 8 a.m. Saturday, the 200-pound container had been tipped over and cracked to the point of disrepair, police reports stated.

The grounds worker told police it would cost $350 to replace the wrecked receptacle.


A 22-year-old student reported Thursday that her former boyfriend has been leaving vulgar messages on her pager.

The student told university police that she is forced to see the man because he has a court order for visitation rights to see their daughter.

The woman told police that the man leaves insulting messages on her voice mail pager at all hours.

The student said she doesn't want her ex-boyfriend picking up their daughter at her home, so she meets the man on campus, police reports stated.

Police advised the woman to get a restraining order, get her pager number changed and to contact police if the man becomes disorderly when he picks up their daughter, reports stated.


University police Monday found a parked vehicle with a broken passenger-side window in the lot south of the Arizona-Sonora Resident Hall, 910 E. Fifth St.

At 11:49 a.m., an officer discovered a 1985 Toyota Camry with a broken window in the Lot 5071 but could not locate the owner of the vehicle.

Police left a business card in the vehicle asking the owner to call university police.
