There is a distinctly satisfying feel of local media makers: the feisty Tucson Weekly, KXCI's Slightly off Center and our very own non-profit video collective, Pan Left Productions. Pan Left, an organization started by UA media graduates Jeff Imig and Lisa Wise, has for the last six years offered a voice to issues of both local and national concern.

At 7:30 tonight, at the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering building on Speedway and Mountain, Pan Left will present FEATURE THIS!, a collection of videos which aim to promote media literacy in our community.

FEATURE THIS! includes a feature length documentary entitled "Oda Ya: Life With AIDS," which celebrates life in a country facing the epidemic of AIDS. Also on the agenda are three videos produced and shot by local teens, including "The Seven of Us," "Dissin' Dare," and "Bicas: Sixth Street and the Tracks." These videos present very personal and public perspectives on ethnicity, drug policy and a local bicycle cooperative, respectively.

With a suggested donation of five dollars, you can see all four of these films, while hobnobbing with the forefront contributors to local independent media. - nate byerley
