Faculty Senate approves labor rights committee
During its last meeting of the academic year, the UA Faculty Senate yesterday unanimously backed the anti-sweatshop cause by accepting a proposal for a committee devoted to monitoring labor rights issues. University of Arizona President Peter Likins and representatives from Students Against Sweatshops included the formation of an ad hoc task force in a resolution signed late Friday night after a 225-hour sit-in.






Athletes of the Year
The final votes have been tallied for the male and female Athletes of the Year, and senior distance runner Amy Skieresz and junior freestyle swimmer Ryk Neethling have taken home the titles.






Keep hope alive
The year was 1992 and a national mayoral conference was meeting in Austin, Texas. My family and I were staying at the Marriott hotel downtown. We had moved out of our house that day and were staying the night before embarking for Phoenix.
