The UA volleyball team's season ended Friday night in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, losing to top-ranked Long Beach State at The Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif.

Long Beach State started off slow, but pulled out a 15-11, 15-4, 15-6 win.

Arizona ended the season with a 22-7 record, while Long Beach State advances to the Mountain Region semifinal with a 32-0 record.

"The match was well played and passing was a key for them, as always," UA head coach David Rubio said. "Long Beach is obviously a good team, deserving of a number one ranking."

Sophomore middle blocker Marisa DaLee led Arizona with 12 kills, followed by senior MB Keisha Johnson Demps, who had 11.

Long Beach State was led by Anja Grabovac, who had nine kills. Jessica Alvarado had eight kills for the 49ers.

"We jumped out to an early lead and had a lot of momentum," Johnson Demps said. "Then after we were down in games two and three, we still thought we could win the match."
