Talk about this story

Police arrested a man Tuesday after questioning him about a report of marijuana smoke and finding he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, reports stated.

Officers went to the Student Recreation Center, 1400 E. Sixth St., at about 7:22 p.m. to check on the report of marijuana smoke and saw Richard Sipe, 47, of a general delivery address, standing next to the building.

The officer approached him and noticed the scent of possible marijuana smoke coming from him, reports stated.

The officer checked his identification and found a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in court on criminal trespass charges.

The officer didn't find any marijuana on Sipe, and he cited him on suspicion of failure to appear in court for the trespass charge.

He was booked into Pima County Jail.

A UA employee called UAPD Tuesday after finding vandalism on the wall of a UA building, reports stated.

An officer went to a UA parking garage at 1140 N. Park Ave. to speak with the Parking and Transportation department employee.

The employee said the spray-painted graffiti on a wall between the third and fourth levels of the garage was not there at 8 a.m. Friday and when he walked past the wall at about 8 a.m. Tuesday, the wall was vandalized.

The graffiti was a picture of a ghost-like face in black spray paint with the tagger signatures "Seteoz" and "ftsa," reports stated.

The employee said he didn't see anyone suspicious in the area.

Police spoke with a UA student Tuesday who said someone stole her credit card and used it to access pornographic Internet Web sites, reports stated.

The woman said her credit card was in her room at Apache-Santa Cruz Residence Hall, 1420 E. Fifth St., on Feb. 15, and she noticed it was missing Feb. 29.

When she received her balance statement for the card, it showed someone had used the card three times, once for $59.99 and twice for $29.99, on the pornographic sites.

The woman called the Internet companies from the billing statement and found the e-mail address was used at each of the companies to set up an account on the Web sites.

She told police she would help prosecute the person who stole her card if the person is found.

The report requested detectives keep the account active to contact Yahoo.com and the companies on the statement to find the person behind the e-mail alias and possibly locate the IP address of the computer used to make the transactions, reports stated.

University police spoke with a woman Tuesday after she reported her car was broken into and belongings stolen, police reports stated.

The woman said she left her car near the intersection of East Helen Street and North Martin Avenue at about 9:45 Monday because her tire was flat and the tow truck couldn't put her car in the parking lot at Palm Shadows Residence Hall, 1815 E. Speedway Blvd.

When she went to her car at about 7:33 a.m. Tuesday to take her children to school, she noticed the driver's side window on her 1994 Mercury Cougar had been smashed.

Her Clarion compact disc player valued at an estimated $250, stereo amplifier valued at an estimated $500, subwoofer speakers valued at an estimated $400, and 200 compact discs valued at an estimated $3,200 were stolen from the Cougar.

Since the car was in the open, rain washed away any fingerprint evidence that might have been on the car.

Police arrested a man Tuesday after the man sped past officers on his motorcycle, reports stated.

The officers were headed north on North Park Avenue at about 11:01 p.m. when they saw Marios Pastellas, 20, of the 800 block of East Drachman Road, pass their patrol car at an estimated 40 mph in a 25 mph zone, reports stated.

Pastellas was revving his engine loudly and the officers pulled him over and asked for identification.

Pastellas had only his motorcycle permit, which allows him to operate the motorcycle during the day.

He was cited on suspicion of display of speed, operating his motorcycle at night with a motorcycle permit and no proof of insurance, and released.
