UA students speak out against tuition hike

Several UA students said last night they want next year's tuition to raise no more than three percent and that the Arizona Legislature needs to provide more funding to the three state universities. About 25 University of Arizona students attended a two-hour public hearing in the Harvill building to voice their opinions about proposed tuition increases. The Arizona Board of Regents, the governing board of the three state universities, is scheduled to set next year's tuition rate at its Apr. 6 and 7 meeting at Northern Arizona University. Students from the UA, Arizona State University, NAU and their branch campuses provided testimony about the increases that was broadcast through interactive television.    [More]

The nonprofit association has provided camp activities free for children since 1965, and state law prohibits university funding for philanthropic events. But according to ASUA Sen. Shane Brogan, the event for which Camp Wildcat requested money did not fall under this distinction.    [More]

'Price of Glory' explores the dynamics of a boxing family
[news] Movies traditionally teach people that where a young athlete is determined to succeed, there is also an overaggressive, pushy parent trying to live out their own failed dreams. "Price of Glory" is no different. In the tradition of like-minded "Varsity 'I don't want your life' Blues," "All the Right Moves" and a mind-numbingly large number of other sports movies, this movie recycles tired and clichˇd narratives. It was written by a former sports writer after all.    [More]
