A UA employee noticed damage to an on-campus coffee stand early Tuesday morning, police reports stated. A custodian noticed around 4:30 a.m. that the Common Grounds Expresso Co., located in the breezeway of the Modern Languages building, 1423 E. University Blvd., was damaged. The metal fence on the stand had been broken open, the stand's cupboard door had been broken off and coffee, napkins, lids and straws had been damaged, reports stated. The manager of the company called police later that morning to report that an All Aboard machine with a modem and telephone line was missing, reports stated. According to reports, the manager told police the stand was intact at 5 p.m. on Friday.
A man was arrested Saturday night after he was reportedly driving while intoxicated, reports stated. James Davis, 40, of the 3000 block of East Blacklidge Drive, was seen driving a mini-van south on North Campbell Avenue at a high rate of speed, reports stated. An officer followed Davis as his vehicle weaved within its lane and continued driving at about 50 mph, reports stated. Police stopped Davis at East Miles Street and North Campbell Avenue. Davis got out of the vehicle and walked unsteadily toward the officer, reports stated. According to reports, the officer asked Davis for his drivers license and he said he did not have one. When officers asked for any form of identification, a passenger in the vehicle gave police Davis' Arizona ID card, reports stated. Police noticed Davis had watery eyes and his breath smelled of alcohol, reports stated. Another officer arrived and gave Davis a field sobriety test. When the officer asked Davis to stand on one leg, Davis said, "I can't pass it, I've been drinking, I admit it," reports stated. A background check on Davis showed he had outstanding warrants from the Tucson Police Department, reports stated. Davis was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license and for having outstanding warrants, reports stated. According to reports, Davis had a blood alcohol content of .099.
A construction worker reported his parking permit missing Tuesday afternoon. The worker said he parked his 1990 Mazda MX6 in a service vehicle parking lot on the southside of the Physics-Atmospheric Science building, 1118 E. Fourth St. at about 10 a.m. on Sept. 3, reports stated. According to reports, he returned to his vehicle two hours later and discovered that his permit was missing from his dashboard. The worker said he can't lock the door and sometimes it does not close properly because his car was damaged in a previous accident, reports stated.
A student reported her clarinet missing Tuesday afternoon from a UA building. The student said she locked her clarinet in a locker Thursday night in the basement of the Music building, 1017 N. Olive Rd., reports stated. According to reports, when the student returned on Tuesday, she discovered the lock was inside the locker and the clarinet was missing. The student said neither the lock or the locker was damaged and nothing was missing from the locker except for the clarinet, reports stated.
An employee reported her football tickets missing Tuesday afternoon from a UA building. According to reports, the employee said she placed an envelope containing her season tickets on her desk in the Modern Languages building, 1423 E. University Blvd. The employee said she noticed the envelope was missing about four hours later, reports stated. According to reports, her desk is the reception desk for academic advising and the area is unsecured.
An employee reported an attempted burglary Tuesday morning from a UA building. The employee said she noticed on Tuesday the frame of the sliding glass door on the east side of the Family Practice Trailer, 1450 N. Cherry Ave., was dented and appeared as if someone had attempted to pry it open, reports stated. According to reports, the frame was bent out of shape and had jagged metal edges. The employee said when she left on Friday, the frame was intact, reports stated. According to reports, nothing was missing from the building and the door was still able to be locked.
