UA law student remembered as a 'wonderful person'
[news]
In his 35 years, there wasn't a lot that Jim Boyer hadn't experienced. After earning his master's degree in journalism from the University of Arizona in 1993, Boyer went on to become a well-known freelance writer. Arizona Highways and the Tucson Weekly were two of the many publications that printed his feature stories.

Ground war
[news]
The Arizona football team had a simple mission in Saturday night's home opener at Arizona Stadium against Middle Tennessee State. It was to re-establish the run with a tough, physical game. Mission accomplished. No. 19 Arizona (2-1) took a 34-0 lead into the fourth quarter before the Wildcats' reserves surrendered 19 unanswered points to the Blue Raiders (0-2). But a win is a win and the Wildcats were upbeat after the game.

Editorial: Put the 'Memorial' back in Memorial Student Union
[news] Deep inside the walls, hidden from most students lies the heart of the Memorial Student Union. With the news that the U.S.S. Arizona memorial will be preserved in the new student union, hopefully the opportunity to improve the exhibit will not be wasted. Take this opportunity to not only preserve the memorial, but to enhance it. Make it more accessible to the student body. Increase the security around these priceless artifacts. Make the new union a "memorial" union in a way this one never was.

Swing Kids
[news]
So what's a birthday without a party, after all? Ask Duke Ellington who, although having died in 1974, is celebrating his 100th this year in grand, grand style. It's impossible to forget just what a huge impact this man made in the music world, and during this centennial anniversary the entertainment industry is at pains to keep us aware of this. The music industry has re-released his albums and staged commemorative concerts, television has aired his biography, and the theater, most notably, has produced "Play On," a comedy musical review based on the life of this king of swing.
