Local stores struggling in wake of arson

Nearly three months have passed since Poppy's Pizzeria was torched by an arsonist. Since then, the two neighboring businesses are feeling the repercussions of having to move their operations elsewhere. Poppy's Pizzeria, 1720 E. Speedway Blvd., was gutted in a fire at 2 a.m. on June 28.

UA head coach Dick Tomey has preached for years that non-conference football games are just a preseason of sorts. The whole idea is to gain experience by playing with teams out of the conference, so Arizona can be better going into Pacific 10 Conference play.

Editorial: UA Mall, union not only construction on campus
[news] Workers digging a big hole in the UA Mall and ripping apart the Memorial Student Union are not the only construction woe on campus. Last Friday, the Arizona Daily Wildcat reported that the UA will only receive $4.2 million in building renewal funds for the 2000 fiscal year, as opposed to the $18 million requested by the university. This money goes toward basic classroom and building renovation - like putting new desks and marker boards into classrooms.
