A student was arrested on numerous charges Tuesday night after he was involved in a car accident and then fled into a fraternity house, police reports stated.

University police followed a vehicle to the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity house, 1420 N. Vine Ave., after a man flagged down an officer and told him the driver of the vehicle was driving very aggressively, reports stated.

Members of the house pointed out Omar Hussein, 19, of the 3000 block of East Fourth Street, reports stated.

The fraternity members said Hussein and another man ran into the house and Hussein would not leave. The other man ran out the back door, reports stated.

Hussein told police he was looking for a friend who he said had just crashed Hussein's vehicle, reports stated.

A background check on Hussein showed he had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on previous charges, reports stated.

Hussein took the officers to where his vehicle was wedged between a wall and another vehicle at 1510 N. Vine Ave., reports stated.

According to reports, the officers searched the truck and found two 32 oz bottles of beer along with a smoking pipe with suspected marijuana residue.

Hussein told police he let his friend drive because he was too drunk, reports stated.

He said they had just come from Ten's Showclub, 5120 E. Speedway Blvd., and he got into the club using a fake drivers license, reports stated.

Hussein was cited on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, minor in possession of alcohol, possession of a false identification, an outstanding warrant and misrepresentation of age to obtain alcohol.

He was transported to Pima County Jail and released.

Police went to a UA dorm early Tuesday morning after a man was reportedly seen performing karate moves in the street in front of the building, reports stated.

An officer went to Manzanita-Mohave Residence Hall, 1000 N. Park Ave., at about 1:30 a.m. after a student was reported doing the moves in the middle of Park, reports stated.

The student was not in the street when police arrived but there was a large group of people gathered near East First Street and North Euclid Avenue, reports stated.

According to reports, several people pointed to a student and said that he was "crazy."

The student told police several men had attacked him earlier, reports stated.

Police noticed the student's breath smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred and that his story kept changing, reports stated.

The student told police that he had too much to drink and that he thought he was at East Fifth Street and North Cherry Avenue, reports stated.

According to reports, police talked to several Zeta Beta Tau members who had talked to the student earlier that night.

The members said they were playing basketball at their fraternity house when the student approached them shouting that he wanted to play, reports stated.

According to reports, the student tried to enter the fenced yard of the fraternity house and when one member approached him, the student started performing karate moves.

Police called a taxi for the student, reports stated.

A student was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he reportedly stole batteries from the U of A Bookstore, reports stated.

Tye Nielsen, 19, of the 800 block of Mitchel Road, was seen by security at the bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd., taking an 8-pack of batteries and walking downstairs to the textbook section, reports stated.

Security saw Nielsen open the package of batteries, take two out and place them in his pocket. Nielsen then returned upstairs and placed the opened package back in the supplies section, reports stated.

According to reports, security stopped Nielsen when he attempted to leave the store without paying for the batteries.

Nielsen said the batteries were $8.99 for six but he only needed two. He told police he shouldn't have taken them, reports stated.

Nielsen was cited on suspicion of shoplifting and released at the scene.
