University police arrested a Tucson woman Saturday afternoon after she allegedly vandalized a fraternity house, claiming she was "Satan," police reports stated. Officers arrived at the Delta Chi fraternity house, 1701 E. First St. around 6:40 p.m. and found the front windows of the house shattered, reports stated. Julia Rose Korinko, 19, of the 1000 block of North Warren Avenue, was found sitting outside the fraternity, reports stated. The students told police Korinko came to their front door and said she was looking for "Mike." When the students told her to go away, Korinko picked up a large rock and threw it through a window, reports stated. Korinko told police she did not have any identification, but her name was "Satan." Later, she gave police a false name of Hailey Lenore, report stated. Korinko said she was looking for Mike, and when no one would let her in the house, she got angry and threw a rock through the window, reports stated. She said she entered the house and grabbed a screwdriver but did not threaten anyone with it, reports stated. When an officer went to arrest Korinko, she said, "I'm not going to jail" and stiffened her body to resist, reports stated. Korinko was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass, criminal damage and giving false information to police. UAPD later discovered that the Tucson Police Department filed a missing person's report on Korinko. Officers notified Korinko's father of her status.
Police arrested a man early Saturday morning after they found a stolen weapon in his vehicle, reports stated. Officers were making a traffic stop on North Park Avenue when vehicles in the drive-thru of Jack in the Box, 934 E. Speedway Blvd., starting honking at a Ford F-150 pick-up truck in the front of the line, reports stated. Police approached the vehicle and saw the driver, Reginald Cole Johnson, 19, of the 6000 block of East Beverly, asleep in his seat, reports stated. Johnson had a Ruger 9 mm semi-automatic pistol on his lap next to his right hand, reports stated. An officer drew his firearm and shouted, "Police, put your hands up!" reports stated. According to reports, Johnson did not respond for 20 to 30 seconds, and when he finally opened his eyes he appeared disoriented. One officer shouted again for Johnson to raise his hands while another officer took the gun from the vehicle. Johnson was ordered out of the car and handcuffed. A background check on the weapon showed it was reported stolen, reports stated. Johnson was later arrested on suspicion of theft by control, driving under the influence, blood alcohol content more than .10 and an extreme DUI. He was booked into Pima County Jail on a $1600 bond.
University police assisted Tucson Police Department officers early Saturday morning in recovering a UA student's stolen vehicle. Tucson police reported a recovered 1987 Jeep Cherokee at the intersection of East Delano Street and North Los Altos Avenue. They discovered information in the vehicle that indicated the owner was a UA student, reports stated. UAPD officers located the student and told him they had found his vehicle. The student said he parked the vehicle in the lot at 522 N. Tyndall Ave., Friday night and did not realize it was stolen, reports stated.
Police arrested two men early Saturday morning on suspicion of drinking in public. Russell Mark Wigner, 23, of Los Angeles, and Jonathan Deboer, 22, of El Paso, Texas, were spotted sitting on a wall, west of the 7-Eleven at the intersection of North Park Avenue and East Speedway Boulevard, reports stated. An officer was on patrol when he spotted Wigner and Deboer drinking, reports stated. When police approached Wigner and Deboer, they hid the bottles of alcohol behind their legs, reports stated. Both men admitted to police that they knew drinking in public was wrong, reports stated. Both men were cited on suspicion of drinking in public and released at the scene.
A UA student was assaulted and robbed early Monday morning, reports stated. The woman said she was walking from Corleone Apartments, 1330 N. Park Ave., at about 1:30 a.m. when she noticed a man following her. The student said she began to walk faster, but the man quickly approached her and knocked her to the ground, reports stated. The woman said the man grabbed her purse and ran from the scene, reports stated. She suffered cuts on both knees and on her upper right arm, reports stated.
