The Arizona State Sun Devils have the UCLA Bruins' number. They've won six of the last seven meetings, including a 28-27 victory on Saturday.

With 23 seconds left in the game, backup tailback Delvon Flowers took a screen pass 49 yards for the winning score. ASU recovered a UCLA fumble in the final possession of the game to preserve the win.

J.R. Redmond gave Heisman voters a little something to think about, rushing for 185 yards on 23 carries and scoring three touchdowns.

ASU starting quarterback Ryan Kealy left the game with bruised ribs, making it the fifth time in his last six starts that he did not complete a game.

After beating Pac-10 favorites Arizona and UCLA in consecutive weeks, the Stanford Cardinal proved once again on Saturday that in the Pac-10, there is no front-runner. The Cardinal lost 44-39 to unranked and undermanned San Jose State.

San Jose State entered the game without their No. 1 tailback Deonce Whitaker, who had rushed for more than 100 yards in each of the Spartans previous four games. San Jose refined their game plan to a more passing-intensive attack to compensate for his loss.

Wide receiver Steven Pulley tied the San Jose school record with 15 receptions for a total 255 yards in the game.

Stanford receiver Troy Walters broke the Pac-10 receiving yardage record with a 10-catch, 186-yard performance. Walters currently has 3,331 career receiving yards.

The Cardinal are 3-0 in conference play but are winless in its two non-conference games.

The Washington State Cougars snapped a 12-game losing streak by slaughtering the California Golden Bears 31-7. The Golden Bears seem cursed at WSU's Martin Stadium, because they haven't won there since 1979.

California's only touchdown was scored on a defensive fumble return and the Cal offense only managed 174 totals yards in the game.

The Cougar offense exploded for 17 consecutive points in the second quarter after failing to score in the first quarter. WSU quarterback Steve Birnbaum completed 23 of 38 passes for 227 yards as the Cougars posted their highest point total of the season.
