Clothes Line Project 'slices the silence' about domestic violence

Newly-painted T-shirts that blew in the wind on the UA Mall yesterday caused people to stop and question the purpose of the display. The shirts were part of a collaborative effort by the Oasis Center and several on- and off-campus organizations to commemorate the first annual Clothes Line Project.

Editorial: Tucson restaurant smoking ban meaningless
[news] There's been a great deal of uproar over the smoking ban which took effect in the city of Tucson last week. However, the real question isn't if second-hand smoke is harmful or if city government should regulate it. As new provisions are introduced for inclusion into the legislation, the real question is why anyone cares. In its current form, the bill is absolutely meaningless. If a restaurant wishes to continue to allow smoking, they can do any number of things to circumvent the law.

Fresh off the release of their second major-label album, The Verve Pipe bring their college rock tunes to Scottsdale's Martini Ranch on Friday night. The band is near the end of an eight-month tour, which began in May. On July 27, the band's self-titled album hit music stores nationwide. Villains, the band's first major-label album, debuted in 1998 and met great success.
