Safety issues arise with student union demolition
[news] Memorial Student Union demolition, set to begin later this week, presents new issues of safety for both workers and students because of its position in the heart of the UA campus. With major construction projects underway on campus, students, faculty and staff are advised to obey safety signs posted by UA officials and Swinerton & Walberg to prevent possible injury or death.

A week after looking dead and defeated, the Arizona Wildcats (6-3 overall, 3-2 Pacific 10 Conference) put together a complete game offensively, defensively and on special teams on Saturday night. Together, all the aspects of the Wildcats crushed the UCLA Bruins (3-6, 1-5) 33-7 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

[news] Republican candidate Bob Walkup should not be Tucson's next mayor. But politics today usually don't allow voters to select the perfect candidate. Voters are generally relegated to choosing the candidate who won't do too much damage. And sadly enough, that's what Walkup - who will face Democrat Molly McKasson and Libertarian Ed Kahn tomorrow in Tucson's general election - is offering Tucson.

Altar memorializes children for Dia de los Muertos

About a 100 people received a piece of Mexican tradition Friday night when the Arizona Historical Society unveiled a 10-foot children's altar for Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Julia Arriola, Arizona Historical Society representative and creator of the altar, said the altar took a week to complete and was funded by the Tucson Pima Arts Council. Today is Day of the Dead for children and tomorrow is Day of the Dead for adults in Mexico and for Hispanics around the Southwest.
