The UA men's and women's swimming teams continued their dominance Friday as they routed Northern Arizona University and UC-San Diego at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.

The No. 2 ranked women were provided with little competition in its 224-67 victory over the Lumberjacks and 125-63 win against UC-San Diego.

The meet allowed for the swimmers to participate in events other than their specialties.

"It was a lot more relaxed, just go out there and get some racing in," senior Rachel Joseph said. "They are kind of fun."

Sophomore Jamie Krohn lead the way for the Wildcats (5-0 overall, 2-0 Pacific 10 Conference) with two victories. Her wins came in the 100-yard backstroke (59.42) and the 500 freestyle (5:06.47), respectively.

Freshman Beth Botsford and sophomore Sarah Tolar also posted strong performances for the women's team.

Botsford won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:04.42 and Tolar swam to victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.16.

"I think our team is a little more advanced than the teams we swam against," sophomore Jenny Vanker said. "We could see where we're at because it's been about two weeks (since the Wildcats last swam competitively).

Along with Krohn, Botsford and Tolar, the Wildcats swam to victories in every event in which they were entered.

The No. 4 men's team followed the lead of the women by easily dominating UC-San Diego.

The Wildcats (3-0 overall, 1-0 Pac-10) had strong performances throughout the team, as they had 10 first-place finishers.

Freshman Jeff Dash lead the way for the men by scoring two first-place finishes.

Dash swam to victories in the 200 freestyle (1:43.50) and the 100 butterfly (50.47).

"We were looking to have fun, just have fun and swim some off events," senior Seth Orozco said. "We weren't really worried about results because we knew we would win."

In addition to the swimming teams, UA sophomore Ruben Vaca set a school record in the one meter springboard competition with a score of 368.48.
