[news] After almost a year of ancipation, UA scientists are anxiously awaiting the landing of the NASA Mars Polar Lander, which is scheduled to touch down today at 1:15 p.m. "We're expecting fabulous pictures of Mars that have never been seen before," said Peter Smith, UA senior research scientist. 'A real battle out there'
[news]
Junior center Loren Woods played only 18 minutes on Wednesday night against Brigham Young. Sophomore forwards Richard Jefferson and Michael Wright played just 22 and 27, respectively. While Wright's minutes provided No. 4 Arizona (5-0) with 19 points and 10 rebounds, the 40 total minutes by Jefferson and Woods gave UA just another 19 points and only five rebounds.

Editorial: Teaching assistants deserve pay increase
[news] Last night, graduate teaching assistants presented their petition for increased benefits to UA President Peter Likins. They deserve a pay increase, but should not receive the additional benefits they ask for. All told, the teaching assistants are asking for three major things. First, health care for their dependents. The teaching assistants themselves already receive health care, but they wish to extend these benefits to their wives and children. Second, university-sponsored or subsidized child care. Finally, an increase in pay.

Richards doesn't measure up
[news]
Will someone please take Denise Richards far, far away before she appears in another movie? Or put her in a convent or buy her acting lessons or at least show her a movie in which people act well. Her reign of destruction has gone far enough. She can't be allowed to ruin anymore otherwise entertaining films. Take the latest installment of the Bond series, "The World is Not Enough" for example. In any scene that does not contain Richards, the movie is terrific.
