UA scientists frustrated by failed Mars Polar Lander mission
[news]
While NASA and UA scientists are disappointed that the Mars Polar Lander has not yet made contact with Earth since Friday, students and professors said the loss should not deter future missions. Samuel "Hop" Bailey, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory project manager, said the mission was a "total loss." He added that while he was frustrated by the latest NASA failure, a few changes will give future missions a better chance of success.

2-minute drill
[news]
Just as Arizona looked to have the momentum to push itself past Connecticut, everything seemed to go wrong in the final two minutes. Thanks to a 11-0 run in the dying minutes of the game, No. 6 Connecticut (6-1) handed No. 2 Arizona (6-1) its first loss of the season, 78-69, in the Great Eight Classic at the United Center in Chicago last night.

Today is my last day at the Arizona Daily Wildcat. After starting here nearly two years ago as a news reporter and finishing as editor in chief, I've decided to call it quits.

[news]

Andy Kaufman may have been a comic genius or just plain crazy. Director Milos Forman's new film "Man on the Moon," a biopic of the legendary performer, is not going to shed any light on that subject. The filmmakers don't know any more about Kaufman than this audience.

-Robert Park, a University of Maryland expert on the space program when asked about the possible outcome of the lost Mars Landing Probe. NASA virtually abandoned all hope yesterday of contacting the Lander.
