UA Director of Parking and Transportation Services dies
[news]
Former UA Parking and Transportation Services Director Marlis Davis, who died Dec. 19, may be the namesake of a university parking garage now under construction. Davis died during winter break after combating cancer for two years. She was 61. Davis had worked at the University of Arizona since 1984 and had been the parking director since 1993.

Arizona knocks off top-ranked Cardinal
[news]

But with a seven-point lead in hand, Arenas could be forgiven for assuming Arizona (2-0 Pacific 10 Conference, 13-2 overall) would cruise to victory.

Who wants to be the president?
[news] A new TV Game show has swept the nation! Though they're known simply as presidential primary debates, its actual title is "The Primary Game." Each contestant (candidate for president) sells himself to various audiences he encounters, which includes framing himself as an extreme conservative or extreme liberal. The goal is to capture the grand prize - his party's nomination for president.

Radio-friendly Tucson group plays against the grain
[news]
Tucson band Tricky Luz, partly composed of UA students, is at a crossroads in both its musical and academic careers. With its upcoming album, Honeyblood, the group hopes its distinct, mellow sound will catch on in the Old Pueblo, and eventually beyond. "After one and a half years, we're at the stage where we're melting," drummer Miguel Monroy said. "Then we're hoping to start doing small tours in Phoenix in six months. But for right now we're playing for fan base in Tucson."

Quotable:
