Regents approve $25M for grad student housing
[news]
The Arizona Board of Regents approved project initiation on Friday for a $25 million on-campus graduate student housing complex, but some at the meeting questioned whether the money will be spent wisely. "If we are going to build it for $25 million, let me do it and I'll give you the savings," said Hank Amos, ABOR president, who cast the only dissenting vote.

Trojans hold off Wildcats
[news]
The USC Trojans and the No. 2 Arizona Wildcats both played like undefeated teams on Saturday night at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, one of the two teams was forced to leave the arena with its first conference loss, and judging by shooting percentages in the final box score, it was evident to all 9,105 raucous fans in attendance who that team was.

If it gets lucky, a new high school in the Vail district might get a decent heating and cooling system. As long as the state's funding system, Students FIRST, doesn't completely go to hell, Vail district's elementary schools might get carpeting, basic landscaping, and - the real kicker - ceilings.

DeVito power
[news]
Actor/director Danny DeVito and screenwriter Michael Leeson made a rare appearance at Friday night's International Arts Society Film Series. After the movie, both DeVito and Leeson spent nearly an hour answering questions from the audience in the Modern Languages Auditorium, which was filled to capacity. The event marked a highlight in this semester's IAS series, sponsored by the College of Humanities.

Quotable:
"I'm doing what Iāve always been trained to do and taught to do. If you know it's right, you stand up for it. And likewise, if you know it's wrong, you have to challenge it. No matter what the consequences."

-Maj. Sonnie Bates on his decision to refuse the anthrax vaccination.
