Icecats continue dominance over ASU

Despite a third period surge by the Arizona State IceDevils, the UA Icecats stretched their unbeaten streak against their interstate rival to 10 games Saturday.

Backed by a strong performance from senior goaltender Mark Meister, as well as two goals each from junior Ed Carfora and sophomore Kyle Neary, Arizona won in the Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the second time in two weeks, winning 6-4.

Arizona was up 6-1 at the beginning of the final period when UA head coach Leo Golembiewski was forced to replace senior goaltender Mark Meister due to stiffness in his leg.

With one minute to play, ASU pulled their goaltender in an attempt to even the score. Arizona's relentless defense, though, played strong in a tough final minute to preserve the victory.
