Residents tolerant of Pima Hall construction
[news] Pima Residence Hall residents said they are understanding about the construction of more rooms that is going on right outside their bedroom windows, but it does cause some problems. "I suppose it is necessary," said Amy Rice, a musical performance sophomore. "It is an inconvenience." There has been a UA housing shortage for the last couple of years, said UA spokeswoman Sharon Kha, which has resulted in a need to add 80 beds to Pima, 1340 E. First St.

Wildcats enjoy stress-free victory
[news]
It was a classic case of feeling a team out and then executing the game plan. The No. 9 Arizona Wildcats (19-4 overall, 8-1 in Pacific 10 Conference) and the Oregon State Beavers (10-10, 2-7) played an even game for the first 12 minutes on Saturday night, but then the Wildcats decided they had seen enough and pulled out a 90-73 blowout win at McKale Center.

punish, reform or leave 'em alone
[news] A Web site sponsored by the Tucson Police Department allows a person to submit his or herzip code to a database to find out who and where all the sex offenders in that zip code are. This seems like merely a logical and useful extension of the existing sex offender notification law to the highly-accessed electronic medium, but it presents a rather thorny problem. Sex offender notification laws admit to a disturbing fault in our philosophies of justice - punishment particularly. If the people on this Web site have already been punished enough, then we are wrong to continue to punish them. If they have not been punished enough, then they should still be in prison.
