Campus construction causes more than just minor inconveniences

Headline Photo

Though anticipation over the culmination of the two largest construction projects ever undertaken by the UA has been looming for several months, completion date after completion date has come and gone, while the projects remain unfinished.

Redevelopment of the Memorial Student Union began in Fall 1999 and will continue for at least another year.

The entire project's original completion date was set for August 2002. However, every other phase of the project has been delayed, based on projected completion dates.

Gay community gains sexual freedom

Gay students feel repeal is "one step closer to legitimizing" their relationships

Chances are, some UA students have broken the law by having sex.

If they've had sex without intending to conceive children, have lived with someone they weren't married or related to, or have had anal or oral sex, they've broken century-old Arizona sex laws.

On May 8, Governor Jane Dee Hull signed a bill repealing these laws, commonly called the "archaic sex laws" by the press.

Learning from a legend

Here's a quick note to the people who constantly complain about the UA football program - Arizona Stadium is the place to be this fall· seriously.

I care about my country and we want to live in peace. We are not terrorists. We are not enemies of anyone. We want to show people our religion."

Many in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will now celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the first mosque built in the US.

Thanks to the Wildcat and countless newspapers around the nation, Arab Americans as well as non-Arab Muslim Americans are accepted as common citizens.

When east meets southwest

Take one part British humor and add a strong fascination with all things Japanese. Stir in a love rectangle. Mix with unbridled singing and dancing. Bake for 115 years. Open the stage curtains. Experience "The Mikado."

"The Mikado" is a satirical comic operetta by the prolific team of Gilbert and Sullivan. The UA Opera Theater brings it to Tucson starting tomorrow night.

Opera director and UA professor of music Charles Roe directs the production; dance professors Melissa Lowe and Jory Hancock choreograph, and music professor Gregg Hanson conducts.
