Residence life will support dorm rate hike proposal

Proposal would increase rates by nearly 9 percent

The Department of Residence Life will push for the Board of Regents to increase next year's residence hall rates by 8.7 percent, residence life officials said.

If the regents pass the rate hike at their April 25-26 meeting in Flagstaff, hall rates would increase anywhere from $200 to more than $370.

An increase of this size would bring in roughly $3,000,000 in extra funding based on the approximately 5,500 students who currently live in residence halls. [Read article]

Baseball avoids sweep with 10-1 win

Arizona avenged two series losses with a 10-1 win against No. 15 Arizona State yesterday.

The Wildcats closed out their first Pacific 10 Conference series of the year with two losses while committing 12 errors and leaving 25 runners on base.

"I'm happy with the win, but not very happy with (the series). We can't pitch and play defense as poorly as (Saturday and Friday) and expect to be where we want to be when it's all said and done," head coach Andy Lopez said. [Read article]
