History of University Boulevard

1919- Bungalow-style Zuni Lodge built

1922- University Drug built

Oct. 29, 1929- Geronimo Hotel and Lodge, an 85-room hotel, built by Tucsonan Neal Pennington opened the day the stock market crashed

1930- Marshall Foundation established

1931- Tom Marshall dies of health complications several weeks after Louise shot him

1956- Louise Marshall dies

1959- Franklin's Men's Store founded on Congress Street (now Landmark Clothing and Shoes)

1962- Franklin's moves to University Boulevard

1980- Tucson Fire Department orders Geronimo Hotel and Lodge to close for massive repairs

1986- Geronimo Hotel and Lodge reopens after renovations

1993- Sinbad's Restaurant opens

1994- Euclid Ave. Parking garage built

1995- University Services Office building on Euclid Ave. built

1996- Marriott opens

1997- Construction on retail strip between Gentle Ben's and

2000- Urban Outfitters opens

2001- Chipotle opens

2002- Gap closes

2003- Projected completion for building at Park and Second St.
