ANAHEIM, Calif. - There would be no letdown on this night.
The Wildcats came out and crushed Notre Dame to reach the regional finals for the second time in three seasons with an 88-71 win.
The match-up advertised as a three-point shootout became more about taking care of the basketball.
The Wildcats had 14 assists to just one turnover in the first half and just 10 for the game compared to a Fighting Irish team that had 19.
The win puts UA in the Elite 8 in a matchup against the winner of Duke/Kansas which is underway.
Sophomore Channing Frye led UA from the start scoring 14 points 12 rebounds, and Arizona got some unexpected help from its bench with freshman Hassan Adams chipping in with 14 points.
But like usual for this UA team, the seniors were the biggest contributors.
Luke Walton neared a triple-double with 16 points seven rebounds and eight assists, Jason Gardner scored 19 and Rick Anderson had nine and 12 rebounds.
It seemed everything went their way in the second half as two acrobatic shots under the basket, one by Gardner and one by Walton, fell in.
Notre Dame freshman Torin Francis led the Irish with 25 points. The Irish three main scorers throughout the season struggled to get going from behind the arc, the team's most viable weapon.
Chris Thomas netted 20, Matt Carroll had 11 and Dan Miller scored 11.
Arizona had a 20-3 run in the first half to get its big lead after being down 12-5.
