Child Protective Services took two children from their mother Saturday morning after police observed the woman neglecting her children near East Second Street and North Park Avenue, reports stated.
According to reports, police approached the woman and her two small children, asking the woman if she needed help.
The woman said she was trying to call her friend, who was going to wire her money, reports stated.
Police offered to help her call her friend, but the woman didn't know her friend's name or phone number, reports stated.
The woman began to walk away and let her 3-year-old walk five feet behind her even as they crossed the street, reports stated. The woman also had an 8-month-old child in a carrier.
Police tried to help the woman again, and as they spoke to her, they noticed her eyes were constantly moving and couldn't focus on anything, reports stated. The woman's speech was hurried, and she repeated herself several times during the conversation, reports stated.
Police asked the woman if she was on any medication and she said she was on Zyprexa and Celexa ÷ extreme psychotic medication ÷ for five years, reports stated.
Police called CPS, and while they were waiting, they noticed the woman was having extreme mood swings and going from passive to aggressive in a matter of seconds, reports stated.
The woman was also neglecting her children, reports stated. Her 3-year-old was crying and lying on the ground, and the woman did not pay any attention to her. The child then asked for a drink of water and the woman did not respond. Officers asked the woman if she was going to give her water, and she said, "I'm think right now," reports stated.
The 8-month old started crying and the officer suggested the woman try to feed the child. The woman did not respond, said something about needing cigarettes and did not move to feed the child, reports stated.
CPS arrived and took the children into custody. The woman became aggressive and police handcuffed her until CPS left. Police told her she could contact CPS and released her, reports stated.
Police arrested a man for attempted robbery at East Second Street and North Park Avenue around 3 a.m. Saturday, reports stated.
A student called police because the man was yelling at people and threatening to cut someone. Police arrived and asked the man why he was yelling at people, and he said, "I'm only talking to the women," reports stated.
Police could smell a strong odor of alcohol on the man's breath and his eyes were watery and bloodshot, reports stated.
While police were talking to the man, they received a call that a person matching the man's description had threatened another student, reports stated.
An officer went to Gila Residence Hall, 1009 E. North Campus Drive, where the student lived. The student said the man jumped over the rock wall behind the residence hall and demanded money from the student. The student told the man he didn't have any money, and the man followed him to the entrance of the hall, reports stated.
The man stared at the student, and fearing for his life, the student gave the man his wallet, reports stated.
The student apologized for not having any money, and the man said, "You are lucky this time. Next time, I kick your ass, mother fucker," reports stated.
The student was taken to the scene and identified the suspect as the man who had robbed him, reports stated.
Police arrested the man, reports stated.
The Gila resident wished to press charges, reports stated.
A student was arrested for drinking underage after he was seen hitting the side of a black SUV parked in a Zone 1 lot, 1151 N. Vine Ave., early Saturday morning, reports stated.
The student said he was waiting for his friend and that the SUV he was hitting might be his friend's, reports stated.
Police noticed a strong smell of alcohol on the student's breath and that his eyes were watery and bloodshot, reports stated.
The student also had an unopened can of Keystone Light beer in his right pants pocket, reports stated.
The student was cited and released for minor in possession, reports stated.
There was no damage to the SUV, reports stated.
