A UA student was found dead Thursday afternoon on a couch in her apartment, according to a Tucson Police Department report.

Shannon Hungerford, a sociology junior, was pronounced dead at 12:35 p.m. from a drug overdose.

She was 21 years old.

The Tucson Fire Department arrived at her University House at Star Pass apartment, 2525 W. Anklam Road, after a male roommate called the police, the report stated.

The man said he had last seen Hungerford alive around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Around 11 a.m. Thursday, the man said he noticed Hungerford was still on the couch and not breathing. The man said he then panicked and returned to his parent's house to call 911, the report stated.

Michelle Pickrom, TPD spokeswoman, said the cause of Hungerford's death is unknown, and has not been ruled a suicide.

Pickrom also said police are not sure what Hungerford overdosed on.
