Five University of Southern California students were arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and underage drinking Saturday, reports stated.

Police patrolling the tailgating area near Arizona Stadium, 540 N. Vine Ave., saw a group of men holding beer bottles next to a recreation vehicle. When the officers approached, the men got into the RV and shut the door, reports stated.

The officers smelled burning marijuana coming from the door. They asked the men to come out. They searched the men and found that they were USC students, reports stated.

All of the students were underage. They admitted to drinking. One began vomiting. They were all cited for minor in possession, reports stated.

When the police searched the RV, they found a small pipe on a table and another in the closet. When the officer called for a K-9 unit to search the vehicle, one student led the officer to a bag of marijuana inside the RV, reports stated.

The student was cited for possession of marijuana, reports stated.


A man was arrested for trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia Sunday after he was seen near a bike rack near the Manzanita-Mohave Residence Hall, reports stated.

A student in the residence hall called police after she saw the man "scoping" out a nearby bike at 2:54 p.m. When police arrived, he had already left. An officer found the man walking on North Park Avenue, reports stated.

When police questioned the man, he said he was walking his girlfriend's dog and that it had run away. An officer recognized the man and remembered ordering him several times to stay away from campus, reports stated.

The man was arrested for trespassing. When police searched him, they found two syringes in his pocket. He was then cited for a narcotic paraphernalia possession charge, reports stated.

As police were taking him to the Pima County Jail, the man admitted that he was at the residence hall to steal a bike, reports stated.


A man was arrested on DUI and possession of marijuana charges Sunday when he ran from police after driving the wrong way on a one-way street, reports stated.

An officer tried to pull over a white Ford pickup while it was driving eastbound on East First Street. The truck turned onto North Cherry Avenue and then eastbound on East Speedway Boulevard. It did not stop for the red light before turning, reports stated.

The officer followed the truck as it turned southbound without stopping on North Campbell Avenue. The officer lost the truck after it did a U-turn, reports stated.

While driving through the neighborhood east of campus, the officer saw the truck parked at a gas station on East Speedway Boulevard and North Forgeus Street, reports stated.

Witnesses saw the man run across Speedway near Viva Burrito, 2645 E. Speedway Blvd. Officers caught the man as he tried to run back across Speedway, reports stated.

When police searched the man, they found a bag of "green leafy substance" and cherry rolling papers in his pocket. They also smelled alcohol on his breath, reports stated.

Police gave the man a breathalyzer test and he blew a .076. Along with the DUI and possession of marijuana charges, he was arrested for driving the wrong way on a one-way street, reports stated.


Police arrested a UA student and a USC student Saturday after they were seen drinking beer in the parking lot of the Learning Resources building, 1512 E. First St., reports stated.

The officer patrolling the area at 1:12 a.m. saw the two women standing next to a car holding beer cans. When he approached them, they put the cans down, reports stated.

After finding that they were both underage, the officer cited them for minor in possession charges, reports stated.

As he was writing the citations, one girl asked him if "there was anything I can do to get out of this, anything at all?" reports stated. The other girl said, "One fuckin' beer is gonna make me lose my scholarship?" reports stated.

They were both arrested and released, reports stated.


A group of USC students were arrested for theft and minor in possession charges when they were caught breaking into a hot dog cart, reports stated.

Police responded to a call that four men had broken into the kiosk near the Nugent building, 1212 E. University Blvd., at 3:53 a.m., reports stated.

Two officers saw the men walking with five stacks of Pepsi cups, bags of hot dog buns and four nacho packages, reports stated.

When police searched the men, they found that they were all USC students. One of the students had a broken padlock in his sweater pocket, which he claimed to have picked up while they were at the hot dog cart. All four said they found the lock broken on the hot dog cart when they arrived, reports stated.

When police searched another student, they found a bag of green leafy substance, reports stated.

All four students had alcohol on their breath and were arrested for minor in possession charges. The student with the suspected marijuana was arrested for possession of marijuana also. The student with the broken pad lock was arrested for theft, reports stated.
