A student was arrested Tuesday after he was caught with a "green leafy substance" and various narcotic paraphernalia, reports stated.
Police were called to Kaibab-Huachuca Residence Hall, 922 E. Fourth St., at 11:29 p.m. after another student smelled burnt marijuana coming from a room. When police asked the resident if they could come in and talk, the student said no, reports stated.
The officers secured a warrant to enter and read the student his Miranda rights. They later searched the room. Another man in the room said the two had smoked marijuana outside earlier in the night but not in the room. Police released him and questioned the resident, reports stated.
Police found a fan that was pointed in the direction of an open window, a 20-ounce plastic bottle with holes cut in the bottom covered with a drier sheet and a three bags of "green leafy substance," totaling 8.4 ounces, reports stated.
Police found one bag in a trashcan, along with a multicolored glass pipe with residue in the bowl. The other two bags were found on the resident's roommate's desk, reports stated.
After searching further, police found a toilet paper roll with a drier sheet covering one end and rolling papers. The student, who had red, watery eyes and dilated pupils, said the bags were not his roommates', but not his either, and denied smoking marijuana in his room, reports stated.
The student was cited on charges of marijuana possession, false reporting and possession of narcotic paraphernalia, reports stated.
A man was arrested in the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd., on Tuesday after he told a student to "go home," reports stated.
The man first said something that the student could not understand. After asking him what he said, the man said, "go home," reports stated.
The student, who is of foreign descent, found her brother who was in the library and went to confront the man. After finding him on the fourth floor of the library, the man apologized for what he said, reports stated.
The student called police to document the incident. After questioning the man, the police found that he had an open warrant issued by the Tucson Police Department for failure to appear in court, reports stated.
The man was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail, reports stated.
A student called police after his bike was stolen from Navajo Residence Hall, 1557 E. Sixth St., reports stated.
The student locked his bike to a rack on the south side of the building on Nov. 25. He returned Tuesday at 3 p.m. to find his blue and black Hero mountain bike missing, reports stated.
The bike was valued at $350 and the U-lock at $20.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A student called police Tuesday after somebody stole his license plate, reports stated.
The student parked his blue Chevrolet Suburban on the second level of the Admin. Garage, 1340 E. Second St., at 3:30 p.m. When he returned at 5:45 p.m., he noticed that his Utah license plate was missing, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A bike was stolen Tuesday from the Math building, 617 N. Santa Rita Ave., reports stated.
A student locked her $600 Gary Fisher mountain bike to a rack on the north side of the building at 8 a.m. with a cable lock. When she returned at 11 a.m., the cable lock was cut and the bike was missing, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A $2,000 laptop computer was stolen from the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd., on Tuesday, reports stated.
A student left her Sony Vaio laptop in a study room on the fourth floor at 1:20 p.m. When she returned at 1:55 p.m., the computer was gone, reports stated.
The student did not see any suspicious-looking individuals in the library.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A bike was stolen from a rack at the Music building, 1017 N. Olive Road, on Tuesday, reports stated.
A student locked her red Cannondale mountain bike to a rack on the north side of the building at 8 a.m. When she returned at 5 p.m., the bike and her U-lock were missing, reports stated.
The student locked the bike through the front tire and frame. The bike is worth $400 and the lock is $15, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
