North Park Avenue between East University Boulevard and East Second Street may be closed until Friday, said Mike Gram, public relations adviser for the City of Tucson.

According to city records, C.F. Jordan Construction has been issued a permit for a full road closure until Friday.

Traffic on the west side of campus is being detoured around the closure.

The construction company is finishing the paving and installation of a walkway around the new Marshall building on the corner of North Park Avenue and East Second Street, which is owned by Park Development LLC.

Both the Marshall Foundation and the UA rent space out of the building.

Richard Mandziak, general manager of Arizona Bookstore, the only office open in the building, is not too worried about the construction.

"I didn't expect it. Realistically, I am in support of the building getting finished. I don't think they are doing anything unnecessary. Naturally, it will cause some inconvenience. I am glad the timing didn't fall on the first week of school," Mandziak said.

Arizona Bookstore will soon have several parking spaces for customers on East Second Street.

The closure may have surprised some after the Wildcat reported on Jan. 21 that North Park Avenue would not be closed again.
