Pac-10 names Bisordi week's best

Arizona junior Monica Bisordi was named Pacific 10 Conference Gymnast of the Week for Feb. 2-8, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced yesterday.

Bisordi, from San Mateo, Calif., led No. 15 Arizona to a Pac-10 victory over California on Friday, Bisordi swept the individual titles, finishing first in each event.

Bisordi took top honors in the all-around, tying her career-high score of 39.750, finished first on floor with a career-high 9.975 and tied for first place on beam (9.900) and on vault with a career-high 9.950.

Bisordi's 39.750 in the all-around is the second-best mark in school history, and her 9.975 on floor is tied for third best all time. On the season, Bisordi has nine total individual event titles, including three in the all-around, along with two on bars and floor.

This is Bisordi's first career Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week honor. She becomes the first Arizona gymnast to receive the award since fellow junior Katie Johnson in 2002.
