Arizona lacrosse improved its record to 2-1 as the Wildcats triumphed over Texas A&M and Texas this weekend.

As expected, the previously undefeated Aggies put up a strong fight, but the Wildcats were able to pull off an 8-5 win.

Senior attackman Jeems Lochridge led the Wildcats with three goals, and fellow attackman Adam Paris added two goals and one assist.

Head coach Kenny Broschart said the Aggies offered a good, competitive match up.

Yesterday, Arizona defeated the Longhorns 14-12.

Lochridge was once again a big contributor with three goals, one field goal and one assist, while Paris and sophomore attackman Greg Polheber each had six points.

The victory was not quite as sweet, however, as Broschart said the Longhorns (4-1) were clearly the weaker team and came into the matchup ranked 23rd nationally.

"It was a poor team and they really didn't play that well," Broschart said.

Despite the lack of competition from the Longhorns, the road trip was a much-needed boost of confidence for Arizona after the Wildcats fell last weekend to top-ranked Colorado State.

The Laxcats play a three-game home stand against the University of Oakland next weekend.
