An ASU student was arrested on a minor in possession charge at 3 a.m. Saturday at Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., reports stated.
The student was a guest of a resident, but had not checked in.
The student tore down a sign in the hallway on the third floor. He appeared to be drunk, became belligerent and poked a resident assistant in the chest, reports stated.
He left the hall and tried to come back in. The RA at the desk recognized him and told him he could not enter the hall, reports stated.
The Arizona State University student took off his belt and threatened to hit the RA with it, reports stated.
The RA said he did not feel victimized by the threat, but wanted the student found and removed from the property, reports stated.
The resident snuck the ASU student back in the hall through the stairwell to his room. They were heard saying, "That big guy acted scared when I tore down that paper," reports stated.
When the men were told of the charges, the resident made excuses and refused to sign the citation. The officer smelled alcohol on the student's breath, reports stated.
Another officer was called in to talk to the students. The resident still didn't comply and became argumentative, reports stated.
The resident was handcuffed and taken to Pima County Jail. He was cited with minor in possession and false reporting to law enforcement.
The ASU student was escorted from the building and told he was not allowed to return, reports stated.
